Sunderland are yet to make a move for Watford midfielder Ben Watson, the Watford Observer understands.
National media reports have suggested the 31-year-old's departure from Vicarage Road is imminent, although sources close to the Stadium of Light tell a different story.
Watson, with Watford since 2014, failed to make a single Premier League start last season, and was sent off on one of his four substitute appearances under Walter Mazzarri.
He previously started all but seven of the Hornets' top-flight games under Quique Flores in 2015/16.
Watson's departure during the summer would not present a surprise to many given his age and lack of gametime last season - but Sunderland have not, at present, tabled a bid to bring him to the Championship.
